Gundolf Pfotenhauer

I am a German photographer, designer and Creative Director. Photography and design have always been closely connected in my work.

I grew up in a family of printers and began with an apprenticeship in typesetting. I later learned graphic design and completed a master class in photography. Over the years, I have worked in Germany, the United States and Italy in photography, product and graphic design, interaction design and branding.

I was Global Design Manager at Procter & Gamble and later worked for many years as Creative Director for Francis Ford Coppola. I led international design and brand projects and was responsible for the visual design and communication of Coppola's companies.

Throughout that time, I continued to make my own photographs. My work has appeared in many publications, including Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Travel + Leisure and Vogue.

Today, I work independently as a photographer and designer in Europe. I am interested in landscape, architecture, hospitality and the character of places.
